B. Research: Ph.D., Edinburgh University, worked
with Prof. C. Auerbach, FRS, on the problems of chemical mutagenesis,
heteroduplex repair and unstable genes in fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces
pombe. 1963-1966.
At the Biology and Health Physics Division of Chalk River Nuclear
Laboratories on the questions related to radiation-induced mutations
and DNA repair in yeast, Postdoctoral year. 1966-1967
Independent research at Chalk River Nuclear Laboratories. Supervised
summer students, graduate student and one Postdoctoral Fellow. 1967-1973
Research on various aspects of the mechanisms of mutagenesis, heteroduplex
repair and unstable genes in yeast at National Research Council
of Canada, Ottawa, 1973-July 1989.
Research studies related to gene transfer within different yeasts.
This approach involved the techniques of strain improvement, protoplast
fusion, transformation and gene cloning.
INTERNATIONAL INVOLVEMENTS

by Government of Pakistan to work at Nuclear Institute,
Faisalabad, Pakistan in 1981 and at Center for Advanced Molecular
Biology, Punjab University, Lahore Pakistan in 1985.
